It’s one of those things that happens to many seniors in today’s economy. They work for 30 to 40 years and find themselves on a small pension trying to survive as costs for living goes up and income stays stagnent. Coupled with the fact that many of them have probably helped their grown children get on their feet while they were still working, disposable income is pretty much non existent.

To make matters worse insurance rates can go up and medication prices are always on the rise.

So, what to do?

Consider the fact that many seniors who for the purpose of this article let’s say are 50 and above many of these people have to rely on Social Security disability or Social Security pensions which are pretty slim when you figure out Medicare costs, food, housing and general daily living expenses.

While the Social Security states you can make a certain amount of money per month and not be penalized for that money, it’s proven hard for seniors to find almost any kind of income making opportunities online. Are there any best jobs seniors can find online?

That’s where things get tricky because the younger generation which we can call the digital generation has some pretty smart folks who know how to use the internet to create these opportunities.

But are they worth checking out?

In my experience most are not. In fact a good majority of them are scams and schemes that bilk seniors out of their pensions and create a general distrust of the younger generation.

And they have every right to think that way. Gone are the days of working in industrial companies, high paying jobs like electrical trades, ship builders and other manual jobs that could keep a family afloat back 30 years ago. Now, it’s a hodge podge of retail jobs, customer service jobs and the like. It’s no wonder many seniors feel trapped.

Why Is It So Hard?1fda3f38c346aa3501559deea338c6671534173586 cropped - Best Jobs Seniors Can Find Online. Are All Of Them A Waste Of Effort?

Being an over 50 person who worked for 30 years I can tell you why I think things have gone south for many seniors. It’s because technology took over and many older workers simply got replaced my machines and younger workers.

Add in the illegal workers who turn towards any of the lower paying jobs, this leave many of us out of luck and dependant on Social Security and a feeling of not having much of a future.

Does this mean that being over 50 is a waste of sticking it out? Not at all and my suggestion is to stay frugal but look for opportunities online that won’t drag you down. Look for something that works and isn’t just a bunch of nonsense.

Over two years ago I found a company that would train me to do something called affiliate marketing.

What is affiliate marketing?

Simply put it’s the process of writing articles and blogs and promoting products and services with links in your writing. It’s a simple concept really. You build a website, begin to write articles and then from there you keep adding products and services. Eventually you will get traffic to your website and this will convert to sales.

How do I know this works?

Because I have been doing it. And it works if you put some effort into it. How does this affect you as a senior looking to supplement your income?

By allowing you to make enough passive income that won’t affect any benefits you get and you begin to build your business as an affiliate marketer.

Let’s face it. Times are not easy for those over 50 especially if you don’t have a job. Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn from home and build your own business.

I have been doing this for over 2.5 years and now I am making some passive income. This allows me to buy the things I need without having to worry about overspending.

It’s not that people stopped spending money, they do and online sales are always booming. Seniors are the ones that are not spending like crazy and that’s smart. But as a senior you can make some extra money off those people who are spending to make life a little less stressful.

But first you have to learn how to be an affiliate marketer. It’s not that difficult to learn either. You just have to start somewhere and as I show in other blogs here, Wealthy Affiliate is the platform I recommend to learn on.

I have been using this platform for a while now and it has taught me things about this economy that I never knew. And that is you don’t have to break your back to survive in this world. Especially not as a senior.

Still reading? That’s good because I would love to help you achieve success as an affiliate marketer. I have the experience and am always ready to offer help to anyone needing it on the platform.

Final Thoughts On Extra Income For Seniors

I would suggest that if you are looking online for opportunities always check reviews of the program in question. Look at pricing and compare. Ask lots of questions and most importantly go with a program that has been around at least five years. I say this because five years while a lot of time is enough to know whether a business is legit or a scheme or if it will last long term.

The Wealthy Affiliate has helped make people into successful business owners for 13 years now and are still going strong with over 1 million members. This is the way to succeed in affiliate marketing in 2018 for seniors and anyone looking to supplement their income.

  1. I’m turning 27 next week. I still enjoyed your article though. I can relate on what you’re saying and it seems like a real depiction of life as I know it. To be honest I will check out other articles of you now. What you’re writing is easy readable and the most important thing is that you mention businesses that survived longer than 5 years. I know a lot of companies around here that don’t even make the 1 year mark, so why should I bother to work for those guys, if I know I won’t even get back my time or money?

  2. I couldn’t agree more with your article. As a senior it’s next to impossible to survive on social security. I’m not one of the people fortunate enough to have a big 401K or pension. Looking for a job at this age is not at easy task. But for me, finding Wealthy Affiliate couldn’t have been a better choice. This is going to be my retirement income and I can’t be happy enough. It’s hard work that pays off. Thanks for your information! Awesome!

  4. If you Google “working from home” you find all sorts of blogs where people tell you ideas like “take surveys”. I can tell you that I gave survey’s an honest try where I devoted 2-3 hours a day for a month to see what it would do. NOTHING. What was my time worth? If I got a job working at McDonalds at minimum wage, I would have been a solid $500 up.

I fully agree with what you say about checking reviews and asking questions. It’s how you can find the ‘truth’.

    1. That’s the problem. The concept of time is money is going away. Now it’s more of a quick way to get your money and poof these people are gone. It’s what I call the lazy sleazy way of life where while it may not be illegal it’s just a means to an ends. Not a job, not a career but a scheme and I stay away from those. Thanks for the comment!
