Blogging Tips

You’re looking to make money with your blog right? You need some make money blogging tips right?

Did you know that it’s harder than you may think to make money with your blog if you don’t have the right information? And surprisingly most people don’t have a clue as to how to get their blog making them money. I know it sounds dismal and it is. But, if you go about blogging the right way and stay consistent, there’s no reason you can’t be raking in the bucks in a relatively short time.

For most of us we start a blog with high hopes. We write some good blogs and monetize it with Adsense, Adwords or some other ad banner software and sit back and check our stats daily. Well, hate to break it to you but the rules of blogging have changed and while ads are still a popular way to generate some income, you’re not going to be able to live on it unless you are a serious blogger who knows what they are doing.

First Things You Should Do Before You Blog

There are some things you should be ready for before you just start writing into oblivion. And that is to understand how to blog on the platform you have chosen. Many people choose to write on Word Press which really has to be the best one out there for aspiring entrepreneur bloggers. I say this because it has a great writing platform and the plugins can do some amazing things for your website blog posts.

Aside from learning to write on this platform it’s also important to be able to learn through failure. And this is why most people fail with their blog. If they see it isn’t working fairly quickly they are quick to bail out. And that’s not good.  The key to success on a blog is to learn from your mistakes and keep going.

You’re going to want to learn on a platform that teaches you how to write and how to monetize your blog. You could go the route too many take and that’s find some expensive course that teaches you the basics and then leave you hanging. I chose a popular platform that teaches me everything I need to know to not only write on my blog but to monetize it and learn some cool marketing techniques.

Good info for those of us getting started on our journey into the online business world. Consistency counts!

  2. Its reasuuring to know that I am still on the right path. I am slowly starting to get some visits from organic traffic after 8 or 9 months and it is definitely encouraging after seeing little to nothing for 4 to 6 months.

Just curious, what is the percentage of people who leave their blogs after a few months? Do you have those statistics?

    • Most look like they quit in the first 6 months from what I have observed. And I would say a good 60-75 percent quit because they don’t see results. You have to be committed which in a fast paced world money talks and b.s. walks…Unfortunately in affiliate marketing there seems to be a whole lot of talk but no action in forums and groups. So people spend too much time talking but no work. Get past that and you can succeed if you stay the course for a good year at least. Thanks for the comment.

You make some great points here. Many people quit after a few months of not seeing any results. You did not see any results your first year but after that you did, not imagine if you would have gotten frustrated and quit.

One of the main keys to set you apart from the rest as a blogger is to get the experience through trial and error but most importantly through proper training.

When you implement what you have learned and you start to get that organic traffic to your blog consistently month after month it truly motivates you to continue.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful tips.

    • It really is just keeping on with what you’re doing and not swaying from it. And you learn from trial and error like you said. I enjoy blogging and like it when people say my blogs help them. I guess it makes me feel like I’m doing something in my life besides taking up space. Lol. I was a blue collar worker for 30 years so if I could learn how to do this anyone can. It just depends how dedicated you are. Great comment and best to you!

Staying the course is absolutely critical to the success of a blog. There are many people who have the notion that if they just write one or two articles they will automatically get lots and traffic and make loads of money. Wrong. You have to consistently and creatively write content that adds value time and time again. Content has to be optimized for search engines and optimized for social media as well – if they can’t find you or if you can’t share it then don’t write it.

The name of the game is to stay in the game until you win the game.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the good advice. I just pick my niche, quit smoking. I know it is very competitive area. Your article remind me again that it is not easy to make money by blogging, but also encourage me that if you try hard, learn from mistakes, and never give up, the day of financial rewarding will come. I determine to work hard and smart to reach my goal!

  6. You have hit the nail on the head and highlight some great points for making a successful online business.

I was one of those people considering quitting after 2-3 months, going against my own mantra of ‘patience and perseverance’, but I got back into it and I’m glad I did. I’m now heading to my 6 month mark and starting to see organic traffic and comments.

Still not seeing any money yet, but now that my website is attracting attention, it’s only a matter of time. a post like this one puts the whole thing into perspective and should provide encouragement to many ‘newbies’.

I especially like the reference to learning from trial and error, and I have started to look back at my own posts to see if there is anything I can tweak or improve.

    Thank you for sharing this.

Seasons Greetings to you and yours,

  7. Newbie blogger here! It is a tough road and you are right, you need to stick with it. I myself sometimes feel a bit lost, but it’s all part of the process. I have to remind myself of that. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Erin says:

I am a new blogger, and it’s good to have this kind of perspective. Ups and downs of course, but we have to keep on the path. Thanks for the encouragement here!

  9. Alex says:

These are wonderful tips. As a beginner blogger, I know that I have a lot to learn. It will take time before I know everything. I am in a tough niche and I understand that nothing happens over night. Your advice is sound.

I do have a question though. For a beginner blogger, what would you recommend they do to develop grit? It takes a lot of it to develop a site. I look forward to hearing your answering. Otherwise, thank you for sharing and I hope you have a great day!

    • It really just takes determination and drive to keep at it. I don’t know about grit but I guess that’s another way to look at it. If you stay the course and learn how affiliate marketing all comes together you will succeed. And have fun with it! It’s not all about making sales, it’s about building a website that offers people something of value. Thanks for the comment!

  10. This is a storytelling fact about the best marketing program online. It covers not only blogging but other avenues to make money as well.

  11. Hey David!

Great post. You’re absolutely right people flake out when they don’t see results. I have been trying to succeed online for over a year now. I’ve failed on numerous occasions, and i’m still struggling to succeed, but I’m still working at it! I have to give it more time & effort.

If you haven’t built another website already, what niche would you pick? I think I would make one about golf clubs.

    • I started a meditation website which I decided to start because I had put in a year and half on my MMO site. I had enough experience to try and new one and I like meditation because it calms the mind chatter. I also like meditation because it can do wonders in letting you get to know yourself. I know sounds weird and cliche but I had a change of life and I found that what I was chasing in life left me tired and unfulfilled working for other people for a few decades. To succeed on a website you need to have a passion and actually enjoy what you are doing and look at long term success realistically. Thanks for the comment and let me know how your website is coming along!

  12. It is all about getting the right information and putting it to use. You are right about what you have said. this business takes some know along with time, stick in there and anyone can be on there way to online success.

  13. David,
Thank you for the wonderful post. I think you put this together very well. A lot of people need to know this so they can get out of the 9 to 5 grind. Good Stuff

    • Thanks Steve. Yea, the grind is something I did for years. I’m thankful I no longer am in all of that and doing something that is fun and rewarding and if I get tired of writing I have an exercise bike next to me I can do a quick workout! Lol

  14. Carl says:

Hello there. SOme great info here for newbies like myself. I have just started a blog website and this has been very helpful to me. I will say that I agree with you that it takes time and hard work to achieve success, oh yes and a lot of knowledge too.

    • You pretty much hit the nail on the head Carl. You just need to keep going and doing something even if it’s just a little thing on your site to become a success. I wish you the best with your business!

  15. Cool tips. I´m just starting, so this post helped just right. Thanks.

  16. Rick says:

Thanks for the great blog tips. It helps to see other people’s advice and tips.

The biggest thing I picked up from you today was to have patience and not expect the money to come flowing in overnight. Some people may think that being patient is waiting for one or two months but from what you have said above, it sounds like patience may need to be in place for at least one year.

  17. I fell in love with your post from beginning to the end. It is very straight to the point. Great and engaging topics. I like the theme, this one really stand out and makes your post and contents look awesome!
We can use post like this especially when starting out as a newbie and even those that have been blogging for years can benefit from this post.

    • Dave says:

Thanks so much Lousia! It’s true that newbies can learn from this and platforms like this one. It just takes time and patience and a willingness to learn.

  18. Diana says:

    Hey Dave,

It’s crazy that staying the course with a blog really is the key to success. When I first started my video game blog, it took me a year and a half to get my first sale and two years until it turned into a steady income.

You have to be patient and you have to know what you’re doing.

It’s true that the sky is the limit with almost any niche. As long as there’s a demand for it, there’s no reason why you can’t turn your hobby into an income.

Thanks for sharing these awesome tips,
